Why You Won't See Me Do a "What I Eat in a Day" Post

If you google "what i eat in a day," you will find countless videos and blog posts that detail out what various health bloggers, nutritionists, and influencers say they eat and drink on an average day.

That's not a post that you'll see on LiveWellWithLiz. Here's why:

1) Your diet should be based on YOUR body and lifestyle, not mine. Bio-Individuality is so important and often overlooked. What I eat should not necessarily be what you eat! While there are certain guiding principles I definitely try to shout from the rooftops (less refined sugar!!!! more leafy greens!!!!), certain foods may affect my body and make me feel differently than they make you feel, and vice versa. We are all unique and have different needs. There are many factors we should consider when determining our diets - health goals, food sensitivities, hormone levels, nutrient deficiencies, lifestyle and environmental factors, genetics, and preferences to name a few. For example, a high-fat diet that incorporates intermittent fasting may cause weight-loss, mental clarity, and improved digestion for one person, but cause cortisol spikes, weight gain, anxiety, and bloating in the next person. As much as the people behind health fads and magazine covers may want you to believe there is a one-size-fits-all, cure-all approach, there's just not. So if something works for you that isn’t “prescribed” by by someone else’s diet (or vice versa) I recommend you list to YOUR body, not your favorite’ model’s food preferences.

2) What I eat in a day varies! Although I have staples and foods I definitely eat several times a week and sometimes I batch cook. I try to rotate what I eat each day, because a diverse diet leads to more diverse microbiotica and a healthy, strong microbiome and immune system. I also try to eat seasonally and locally whenever possible, so showing you what I eat in January vs. what I eat in August may look pretty different. A one-day snapshot would provide a skewed view of my diet. People always ask me "how do you eat so healthy all the time?" and while I do eat healthful, nutrient-dense, plant-based meals 80% of the time, I also have days where I eat too much chocolate or an entire bag of popcorn (See this post on why I abide by the 80/20 rule.) So I would not want to mislead you and have you think I follow any type of perfect diet 100% of the time. I may study nutrition and wellness, but I am also human!

3) I believe these posts can unintentionally induce anxiety and encourage disordered eating behaviors (even if subconsciously.) Although there are several pillars of my diet that I believe to be 90% universal (i.e. limiting refined sugar, lots of leafy greens and nutrient-dense, organic foods, hydrating appropriately), detailing out all the things I eat in a day and not being able to control who consumes this information feeds into the dangerous zone of "good" foods and "bad foods, which can be a dangerous and unhealthy mindset to adopt. In consuming this information, l absolutely do not want to encourage people to think that if you don't eat like I do, you're not eating in a healthy way.

All of this being said, what you WILL find on my channels is a share-out of knowledge to help educate you on basic health and wellness principles, guidelines and inspiration for how you may be able to make your daily routine look a little healthier and how you can feel your best mentally and physically, tips & tricks I have found helpful in maintaining a healthy lifestyle amidst a busy schedule, healthy recipes and healthy food swaps for optimal nutrition.
